Disciples Peace Fellowship (DPF) is praying for the protection and safety of the clergy and faith leaders who are gathering in Minneapolis this weekend to demand ICE out of Minnesota, accountability and justice for the murder of Renee Good, businesses to cease economic relations with ICE, federal funding to ICE be cut, and ICE to be investigated for human rights and Constitutional violations of our neighbors.
For over 90 years, DPF has sought to help individuals and congregations live out the gospel imperative for peace and justice. We encourage all Disciples of Christ in the United States and Canada to be active members in their community. We encourage you to get to know your neighbors and build local networks of support. Whether this is already happening in your community or feels far away, now is the time to strengthen your local networks of care and protection.
God of Love, we ask for traveling protections for our friends and co-laborers in ministry, witnessing with their bodies and voices through the streets as they cry loudly for justice in our ever-fragmented world.
With you, we pray that hardened hearts are softened and that our faith is renewed.
Protect the most vulnerable members of the Body of Christ from ICE and state violence. Protect our immigrant and refugee neighbors and our Black and Brown neighbors - neighbors who have known and endured systemic violence for generations. May all of us be grounded and guided by the comfort and strength that only you provide. Even as we endure the rise and fall of empires, help us usher in your Kin-dom, on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
